DELIVERING FOR GRANVILLE

DELIVERING FOR GRANVILLE Main Image

My no.1 goal as your local MP is to deliver real change for the people of Granville. Here are just some of the projects the Labor Government have been working on recently.

In Our Community

Guildford West Sportsground Upgrade

in 2022, wet weather often meant cancelled games and training sessions, with waterlogged fields forcing the closure of the sportsground for much of the season. Water would pool on the surface with nowhere to drain—making it impossible for local teams to play.

That’s now a thing of the past.

Thanks to a $100,000 NSW Government election commitment delivered through the Local Small Commitments program in 2023, a major drainage upgrade has been completed. The funding has improved one key field, while additional investment from Cumberland Council has enabled upgrades across the entire sportsground.

Our community deserves facilities and services that are able to be used by everyone, anytime.

Emergency Services

Our emergency services are the backbone of public safety—providing critical, life-saving assistance when it matters most. Whether it's police responding to danger, firefighters protecting homes from bushfires, or paramedics delivering urgent medical care, these frontline professionals work tirelessly to safeguard our communities.

This is why I am so pleased to share with you some of the commitments we have delivered to ensuring that these services are available and effective.

Over the past 2 years we have helped to provide resources to 16 new paramedics for the Western Sydney Local Health district.

Additionally, we have committed to building an upgraded Wentworthville Fire Station as part of Fire and Rescue NSW 11.9-million-dollar Parramatta Precinct Strategy.

Finally, this Government is committed to ensuring our communities are safe. This is why we have invested over 5 billion dollars since 2023 in resourcing and training for our police officers. This has resulted in 2024 having the largest graduating class of cadets ever.

Earlier this year I welcomed 7 new probationary constables to Cumberland PAC.

Our roads

Over the past 2 years we have delivered critical improvements to the Granville electorates roads. This has included:

  • Delivered long awaited right turn arrow at Guildford Road/Woodville Road intersection
  • Delivered improved pedestrian crossing at Woodville Road/Oxford Street to improve safety for pupils at Granville South Public School
  • Working with Cumberland Council to deliver a new roundabout at the intersection of Oxford Street and Highland Street.
  • Successfully fought for critical safety upgrades at the Church Street Offramp

However, I acknowledge that there is still much to be done. So please if you are concerned about something on our streets, please contact me at [email protected]

Our Schools

When we came to Government in 2023 we were faced with a crumbling education system. Schools in our electorate have been grossly neglected for far too long now. That is why I have fought hard to deliver crucial upgrades for our local schools. This has included:

  • $367,000 for a maintenance blitz at Merrylands High School and
    Westmead Public School
  • Delivered long awaited air-conditioning at Granville Public School.
  • Improving working conditions for teachers. We have made 16,000 teaching and admin staff positions permanent. We are also reducing teacher’s workloads by undertaking a line-by-line audit of all policies and adding hundreds more administrative staff to our schools.

In Our State

The Labor Government is committed to delivering on the foundations of our state; Our essential services, building more homes and providing real cost of living relief. Thats why over the past 3 years we have:

  • Implemented Toll Caps: Continuing the $561 million investment over 2 years to cap tolls at $60 per week after the former government privatised motorways and made Sydney the most tolled city in the world,
  • Energy Rebates: $435 million in 2024-25 to provide rebates on
energy bills of $250 for families and seniors and $350 for low-income households and those with medical conditions. This is in addition to the Australian Government’s $300 energy relief payment,
  • First Home Buyers Assistance: Waiving or reducing stamp duty for first home buyers purchasing homes up to $1 million. So far more than 40,000 first home buyers have received support under this program. This is the most generous first home buyer support scheme of any State or Territory in the country.
  • Bulk Billing Incentive: $189 million to safeguard bulk billing at GP
clinics across the State, by providing a payroll tax waiver for GPs that
    bulk bill a minimum number of appointments (80% in metro areas;
    70% regional).
  • Scrapped the state wages cap and reached a deal with essential front
line staff including 60,000 teachers for a wage rise of 3 per cent a year
for three years and a deal for a one-year 3.5 per cent increase to more
    than 50,000 healthcare workers.

It would be impossible to fit all of the work the Labor Government is doing here.
